Kemper Williams Prize for that years outstanding book on Louisiana history. Dr. Jones has been married to the former Carol June Janette of Alexandria, Louisiana, for thirty-two years and has two daughters, Laura and Amie. During his twenty-six-year career, he has taught on the junior high, high school, and university level. Dr. Jones currently is a professor of history at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Besides Lees Tigers, he has also published The Civil War Memoirs of Captain William J. Seymour: Reminiscences of a Louisiana Tiger (Louisiana State University Press, 1991), which also was a History Book Club selection; Campbell Browns Civil War: With Ewell and the Army of Northern Virginia (LSU Press, 2001); Historical Dictionary of the Civil War (Scarecrow Press, 2002); Cemetery Hill: The Struggle for the High Ground (Da Capo Press, 2003); and The Louisiana Journey (Gibbs Smith, 2007), an 8th grade Louisiana history textbook.
