Laurent Maindon is a theatre director and poet. In 1996 he founded and became director of Théâtre du Rictus, now based in Nantes, France, where he works to champion contemporary drama. His poetry tries to develop an architecture of implicit and slow motion, that both speaks to and reveals the inner self. "I'm still convinced that understanding the world is possible through its shaky distortions. The underbelly of life, of the world, and their dark places especially interest me. But these things only have relevance when there is concrete imagery to illuminate them. That's the paradox, darkness needing light, the believable needing the improbable." »
