The book considers theoretical approaches to the study of journalistic genre, ways of achieving expressivity in English journalistic text with language means of greater or lesser degree of concreteness-abstractness, explicitness-implicitness, expressivity-neutrality, comparative characteristics of expressivity and emotionality concepts, ways of achieving expressivity in English and Russian journalistic means with the help of lexical means are presented. The retention of expressive effect in the translation of a journalistic text from English into Russian is exemplified by the book "Notes of a Veterinary Surgeon" by David Taylor "One by One" which is a typical example of English journalism. The paper presents the ways of transferring individual-author word-formation, linguistic and stylistic study of the methods of "experimental art" in the works of David Taylor, and presents the translation analysis of the scientific-publicistic text.
