Fixed prosthodontics is the art and science of restoring damaged teeth with cast metal, metal-ceramic, or all-ceramic restorations, and of replacing missing teeth with fixed prostheses. Successful selection of abutments for fixed partial dentures requires sensitive diagnostic ability.
