The ABC's of Kansas City was illustrated and published in 2020 a year that was very taxing mentally, financially, and physically on everyone. I had attempted to produce three other books, but I could not finish them due creative burnout. The events of 2020 left me drained in every way possible, and I was not proud of anything I created. One of the highlights of the year was my sister and husband announcing her pregnancy. This spark of joy inspired me to connect with my "inner child." I began illustrating patterns and abstract designs that brought life back into my soul. This process was therapeutic. I was reminded that even in trying times, I can still find little pockets of bliss in the world. It is my hope that this book will be a reminder for you, the reader, to hold on to your inner child as you navigate the challenges of adulthood.
