This book is an attempt made to analyse Ben Ibebe's paintings produced between 1990 and 2010 from a thematic perspective. Ben Ibebe is an artist who has mastered the impasto technique in painting, regularly utilized the expressionism style of painting and attended solo and group exhibitions both in Nigeria and abroad. Ben Ibebe's paintings are among several paintings with poignant statements, yet his paintings are not documented through scholarly work. The study is justified, because the artist is still alive and actively practicing art. If not studied and documented, first hand information about him and his art can be lost. The researcher went to Ben Ibebe's residence in Kaduna to conduct an interview based on his philosophy and inspiration as well as the styles, techniques and thematic representation of his paintings. The related literature for this study is segregated into three sections: The historical review of some contemporary artists outside Africa, historical review of some contemporary artists in Africa, and historical review of some contemporary Nigerian artists.
