The break through in computer and telecommunication technologies has led to the emergence of global village, which is characterized by the availability of information sources in electronic form all over the world. As a result of increase in the production of electronic information, users are in a better position of having up-to-date information to fulfill their needs. Such information will be available on CD-ROMs, (Compact Disk Read Only Memory), DVDs (Digital Versatile Disk), Magnetic tapes, USB drive, web etc. The emergence of electronic publishing has changed the role of librarian from custodian of document to information provider and information intermediary.
