Economic Dispatch of electric power is optimal dispatching of generator electrical power among various loads with minimum Total Fuel Cost (TFC). Optimal generation dispatches for certain total load demand is achieved by framing an optimization problem with minimization of TFC subjected to power-demand balance constraint and generator bounds. Classically, optimal generation dispatches are found by Economic Dispatch (ED) and Unit Commitment (UC) methods. In ED method all generating units are committed whereas in UC certain units who satisfy load are committed. However, a method named Unit Commitment with Economic Dispatch (UCED) selects specific units by UC and those selected units are undergone ED process. Accordingly, a comparative analysis of ED, UC and UCED applied on generator test systems, neglecting and considering transmission line losses is the focus of this study.
