Language plays a big role in all fields; thus, language experts are needed everywhere. The present research work is an attempt to shed light on the bridge between the field of linguistics and computer science by pragmatically comparing the human language processing system with the language processing system of an artificial intelligence (also called natural language processor). The aim is to get an update on the level of language abilities that artificial intelligence has reached. Meaning, determining whether it is the right time to fully trust this emerging intelligence, especially in terms of its accuracy in the language-related services that it provides. For this reason, two research instruments were used: a questionnaire, which was administered on English speaking university students, and an experiment performed on the machine translation online service Google Translate. The results obtained from this investigation showed that the language processing system of the advanced, artificially intelligent machine translation service, Google Translate, is still struggling when it comes to processing context as accurately as a human language processing system does.
