Years of sobriety means you never quite thinking about how to grow. It means a continuous process of working through your doubts and facing your fears. True sobriety really does show up as serenity and a soundness of mind, body, spirit, and emotions. The guidance of Martial Arts teaches the disciplines necessary to become the best possible version of ourselves. Each tenet of the martial arts and the character traits which I believe are necessary for strong character development are found in this book along with words used to describe the virtues that help one practice sobriety and lead a happier, more fulfilled life. Written by a martial artist and long-time practitioner of the Twelve Steps, this book gives you strategies and ideas which will help you in your own personal journey towards sobriety and wellness. Autorenporträt
Craig Hutson has an innate capacity to convert his own life experiences into the ability to empathize with others. His father was an episodic alcoholic who had a near-fatal, horrific alcohol-related car accident that could have easily killed him as well as all five of his children. Craig's trauma from this event shaped the then eleven-year-old boy to be determined to be different from his father. Raised in a dysfunctional alcoholic home, Craig struggled to understand the rigidness and ineffective parenting that raised his sense of powerlessness. As an adult, Craig chose to form his understanding of what it meant to be a mature person by embarking on a journey in the Martial Arts, a journey that leads him to develop a strong sense of emotional self-control. The Martial Arts helped Craig to have the strength and courage to develop a better understanding of how to develop sound character. He experienced a process to understand as an adult what had happened in his formative years. Craig embraced the Martial Arts principles, which enabled himself to achieve Four Master level degrees Arts and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences. Craig's strength today is directly proportional to how weak he was when younger. That strength enables him to have the ability and resolve to accept that people are going to be what and who they are. Craig has utilized his Bachelor's Degree and Martial Arts Degrees to assist others who have fallen victim to domestic violence and addictions. He worked at the Elgin Community Crisis Center, Advocate Counseling Center and Lutheran Social Services of Illinois. Craig's journey has enabled him to choose a different path for himself - one which allows him to live in truth and help others to achieve the same. Craig's desire for those reading this book is to get into alignment with their inner self.
