Produktbeschreibung
This book presents a framework for distributed learning objects repository that suite learning institutions in developing economies. It is an abstract model of handling decentralized or distributed learning contents in environments short of steady or sufficient Internet connectivity such as those in developing countries mainly in African countries. The model may be adopted in developing a repository that store, provide access, and distribute learning objects. This book also reports a survey that was carried out to investigate how learning institutions in developing countries develop, store, process, access and distribute digital contents. It also presents an analysis of the data collected, and provides recommendations and guidelines that forms the basis of this framework. The authors observed that current and future trends of technologies and standardizations were not addressing the specific problems and setups that the institutions are in. They call for more appropriate, affordable and alternative framework that is geared towards developing countries specific and unique environments. This is what the book presents.
