'A Fortnight of Folly' (1888), a collection of witty and satirical short stories, exhibits his narrative flair and keen observational abilities. Other notable works include 'Alice of Old Vincennes' (1900), which represents his most significant contribution to the historical romance genre and adds to his reputation as a central figure in Hoosier literature.
