For the stomatologist it is a challenge to preserve teeth, and that is why since ancient times he has devised numerous techniques to avoid tooth extraction, hence the emergence of endodontics and the constant study of new procedures and substances to guarantee the success of this therapy. Objectives: To determine the effectiveness of endodontic treatment using calcium hydroxide and 5% propolis tincture as canal irrigating substances. Methods: A quasi-experimental study of a prospective longitudinal type was carried out. The population consisted of patients over 15 years of age with pulp necrosis and chronic dentoalveolar abscess who attended the Alberto Pis Delgado Dental Clinic in Caibarién from March to December 2019. The sample was obtained by non-probabilistic purposive sampling, a total of 50 patients were obtained, who were divided into two equal groups, to which the two substances under study were applied. The treatment was effective both when irrigating with calcium hydroxide and with 5% propolis tincture.
