Autorenporträt
I was a vice-president in a corporate fashion company for 25years and could see from the countries & communities I visited over the years, how badly they were impacted through the industry. I tried to implement more ethical ways of design to production within the company for years but it was really challenging, then suddenly one day, I suffered a Subarachnoid Brain-hemorrhage and was faced with a life-changing experience. This condition is only 50% survival and the remaining have serious disabilities like hearing, unable to walk, partially paralyzed and serious brain damage. I was treated with 4 brain operations, had a second stroke which then lead to having a Shunt inside. I had to relearn a lot of basics, I lost my coordination, had hearing deficiencies, vision and sound difficulties, and a huge mental imbalance -my mind and body had completely changed. However, my purpose became very clear for me - I wanted to make a positive difference in the fashion industry, be a role model to the next generation and help others that have suffered a similar illness to mine. I released my 1st book Room 23 surviving a Brain hemorrhage in Nov 2018 and was a finalist for international book awards Spiritual : Inspirational. 10% profits go to the brain & spine foundation charity. I then went on to share my story and how to produce ethical fashion educating others through my YouTube, Instagram videos. I've done talks at schools and universities ( including Cambridge uni) for both the charities and my Brands. I started my own company that hold multiple ethical fashion brands RATION.L - Vegan trainers & accessories that are gender neutral (5% profits go to the Brain & Spine Found) and REFLEXONE - activewear made from recycled certified plastic yarn from landfill and ocean ( 5% profits go to the Bee Found ) . I still suffer from daily challenges - short term memory loss, extreme fatigue, mental health, high anxiety and others, so its important for me to support the charities and continue my mission of giving back by showing that even through such adversity you can have some hope. Links are here for each Brand : https://www.rationl.co.uk/ and https://www.reflexone.co.uk/ . my 2nd book ' 23 Ways to a Happier Life' was released 6th May 2022, giving 10% profits to the Bee Foundation Charity.
