Voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and received his honorable Discharge in 1973. Received a BA degree from Florida International University in business administration in 1980. Received his nursing license in 1981 and work in the nursing profession most of his adult life. He has three children and three grandchildren, and one Great grandson. Hobbies include reading. Basketball, bowling, art and writing.
