Professor für Systematische Theologie, Ökumenik und Dogmatik an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum sowie Mitglied in zahlreichen ökumenischen Dialogen und Gremien der EKD (DÖSTA, Meißen-Kommission, Dialog mit der Orthodoxen Kirche), auf europäischer (KEK und GEKE) und auf Weltebene (ÖRK, Reformierter Weltbund).
