The "Yearbook for German Language History" is dedicated to the content, methods and objects of language history and their relevance in the context of contemporary German Studies, and so provides a forum for current research into language history. The yearbook's conception is primarily a result of the objectives of the "Association for German Language History" and it serves as the Association's most important publication. The yearbook is a collection of selected presentations held at the Association's annual conferences, and thus the individual editions of the yearbook take on the overall character of thematically-oriented collected volumes.
