Der Autor Thomas Hein, Jahrgang 1966, ist seit über 25 Jahren aktiver Billardsportler und 14-facher Deutscher Meister in verschiedenen Billardvarianten. Als Bundestrainer hat Thomas Hein seit Jahren die Struktur dieser doch jungen Billardvariante mit Engagement und Enthusiasmus voran getrieben. Erstmalig konnte sich die Nationalmannschaft 2007 den Titel des Team Europameisters sichern. Er gründete 2005 die erste deutsche Snookerakademie in Oberhausen. Die 2004 durch ihn ins Leben gerufene Veranstaltung Snooker-Holidays hat bisher einen ungeahnten Zuspruch erfahren. PAT-Snooker war zunächst als Leistungsfeststellung und Test auf die nationalen Spitzenspieler ausgelegt, wurde aber auch erfolgreich bei Breitensportmaßnahmen getestet. Durch das ausnahmslos positive Feedback der Teilnehmer entschloss sich Thomas Hein 2006 das Konzept zu perfektionieren und der ständig gewachsenen Snookerszene zur Verfügung zu stellen.
