Phillip Gary Smith spent more than 35 years as a professional in finance. Award-winning writing grew as a benefit of miles and time on dirt and snow trails with articles and features in Snowshoe Magazine as senior editor, senior writer River Sports Magazine, senior correspondent United States Snowshoe Association (USSSA), senior writer The International Snowshoe Federation (ISSF), Senior Writer SaveTheMonarchs.Org and senior columnist Radioactive Drag Racing News. He published three previous books. Phillip earned two Platinum level honors from The President's Challenge for Physical Fitness. He became a founding board member of the Upper Midwest Trail Runners (UMTR) where he created the Gnarly Bandit Ultra Trail Series, the Fab 5 Fifty trail series along with co-creating the Braveheart Snowshoe Race Series, one of the country's largest. He is a recipient of the Snowshoe Person of the Year award. Living in the Twin Cities with his wife, Jill, they enjoy two daughters, their husbands and one handsome grandson.
