This book is about generating real time dynamic shadows in computer graphics. Our goal is to achieve fast shadow volume computation in a setting where lights and therefore also shadows may change on a per-frame basis. The book deals with optimizations and improvements upon the basic Shadow Volume Algorithm invented in 1977 by Crow. We look at some of the various recent optimization suggestions and use a practical approach to determine how many of these techniques can be successfully combined for an "ultimate" shadow volume algorithm.
