The Author: Jeffrey S. Gaab is Assistant Professor of History at the State University of New York, Farmingdale. He earned his Ph.D. in 1992 from the State University of New York, Stony Brook. Dr. Gaab is widely published in German and European history and has been the recipient of many fellowships, most recently the National Endowment for the Humanities.
