Lord David Owen was Foreign Secretary from 1977 to 1979. He was one of the founders of the Social Democratic Party and has held a number of senior international appointments. His many books include In Sickness and in Power and The Hubris Syndrome: Bush, Blair and the Intoxication of Power.
