Professor Christoph Hasslacher, Head of Department at the StJosef's Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany, has specialised indiabetes and its associated complications, particularly diabeticnephropathy, for many years, both scientifically andclinically. He has published many scientific articles on thistopic. He is a representative of the 'Diabetes and theKidney' working group of the German Diabetes Organization. Sonja Böhm is a freelance journalist in science andmedicine based in Weinheim. She has focused for many years ondiabetes mellitus and its complications. She reportsregularly on national and international conferences for Germangeneral and technical publications. Amongst others, she is apermanent contributor to the newspaper, Diabetes undStoffwechsel (Diabetes anbd Metabolism) and writes for theDiabetes Journal.
