James McBride hat als Redakteur für die Washington Post, das People Magazin und den Boston Globe gearbeitet. Heute ist er als Schriftsteller und Komponist tätig. Sein Roman "Die Farbe des Wassers" wurde in zahlreiche Sprachen übersetzt. McBride lebt mit seiner Familie in New York.
