Prof. Dr. Rudolf Hiestand war bis 1998 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Mittelalterliche Geschichte an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf und bis 2005 Sekretär der Pius-Stiftung für Papsturkundenforschung.

Dr. Stefan Hirschmann war Mitarbeiter am Düsseldorfer Lehrstuhl für mittelalterliche Geschichte und promovierte im Jahre 2000 zum Thema »Die päpstliche Kanzlei und ihre Urkundenproduktion (1141-1159)«.
