Die fast lebenslange, vertrauliche Korrespondenz zweier seiner wichtigsten Mitglieder aus den Jahren 1774 1810 differenziert das Bild der beiden Persönlichkeiten und Ihres Schaffens. Sie spiegelt deren vielfältige Kontakte zu namhaften Zeitgenossen vor dem Hintergrund der historischen Umbrüche, die besonders einschneidende Folgen für Millers Heimatstadt Ulm hatten. Einbezogen werden erstmals vollständig auch die Briefe dieser Korrespondenz von Ernestine Voß, die seit 1802 oft die Feder für das Voßsche Ehepaar führte und deren schriftstellerische Begabung größere Aufmerksamkeit verdient.
