Hannah Höch (1889-1972) ist die wohl bedeutendste deutsche Künstlerin der Klassischen Moderne. Gerade in den letzten Jahren hat ihr Oeuvre erneut internationale Anerkennung gefunden. Ihre Arbeiten sind bestimmt vom dadaistischen Prinzip der Fotomontage, an deren Entwicklung Hannah Höch zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts maßgeblich beteiligt war. Durch die vielfältige Kombination widersprüchlicher Sequenzen, ausgeschnitten aus Illustrierten, Prospekten und Fotografien, eröffnet sie neue irritierende Bildwelten. Ihre Kritik an den politischen Verhältnissen und tradierten Geschlechterrollen verarbeitete Hannah Höch subtil verschlüsselt in den halluzinatorischen Pflanzenbildern und grotesken Szenerien absurder Mischwesen.
