A splendid summer day! Let's go camping at Lake Lottawatta! It will be a perfect test for the new Camp - O - Tron, a marvel of modern technology that I invented to take the drudgery out of camping! Skylar and Sherpa join us in the other canoe, and we set up camp on Highland Island, way out in the middle of Lake Lottawatta. Skylar and Sherpa are camping the old-fashioned way, so it will be a perfect demonstration of the technology advantages of the modern miracle Camp - O - Tron! The camping trip starts off well enough, but minor glitches in the technology, including a self-deploying Auto-Tent that goes haywire, two self-inflating air mattresses that mis-fire, and an overbearing Campfire Social App that is powered by Imitation Sincerity soon has us feeling a new respect for the proven, old-fashioned methods... and good friends who are well-prepared and glad to share their supplies and camping gear. Lessons were learned and we all had a swell time! Each book in the My Favorite Penguin Illustrated Adventure Series is carefully crafted to tell a humorous and entertaining tale, wrapped around a gem of practical wisdom. The books are designed as a tool that can create quality discussions between a younger reader and an older adult. The richly illustrated pages allow a very young reader to participate by pointing to and counting objects on the page. Early readers may need some help with some of the bigger words as they build vocabulary in an entertaining way. Advanced readers can be engaged with "why" or "what would you do" questions, providing a meaningful conversation lead. Roger's hybrid 'cartoon-o-photo' illustration style provides rich, colorful visual entertainment and amplifies the story action. The storyline is written in rhyming verse, providing a pleasant experience for the ears.
