Pedro A. Garcia-Sanchez was born in Granada, Spain, in 1969. Since 1992 he has taught in the Department of Algebra at the University of Granada. He graduated in Mathematics (Bachelor) and in Computer Science (Diploma) in 1992. He defended his PhD Thesis "Affine semigroups" in 1996, and since 1999 holds a permanent position at the Universidad de Granada (full professor since 2017). His main research interests are numerical semigroups, commutative monoids, and nonunique factorization invariants. He has been the principal investigator of several research projects related to this area, the author of more than one hundred research papers and four books, and also the organizer of several international meetings. He is an associate editor of Semigroup Forum and Le Matematiche and has been associate editor of Communications in Algebra. He has been the Director for Internationalization of the International School for Postgraduate Studies of the Universidad de Granada, and Coordinator of Master's Programme in Mathematics at the universities of Almería, Cádiz, Granada, Jaén, and Málaga. He is now vice-dean of Quality and Teaching Innovation at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Granada.
He is the chair of the Organizing Committee for the Discrete Mathematics Days 2026, the proceedings of which are compiled in this volume.
Delia Garijo Royo is Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics I, and a member of the Institute of Mathematics at the University of Seville. She is the Principal Investigator of the research group “Discrete Mathematics: Graph Theory and Computational Geometry”, and a node coordinator of the Spanish Network on Discrete and Algorithmics Mathematics. She served as Academic Subdirector of the School of Computer Science of the University of Seville from 2020 to 2022.
She received her PhD from the University of Seville in 2004, where she had previously earned her degree in Mathematics in 2000. Her main research interests include graph polynomials, graph homomorphisms, and the design of efficient algorithms for geometric problems .
She has participated in several research projects, has been involved in different scientific and organizing committees, and was invited speaker in the last edition of the Spanish Meeting on Computational Geometry (2025). She has also been a member of the Editorial Advisory Boards of two books published by IGI Global in 2018 and 2020.
She is the co-chair of the Scientific Committee for the Discrete Mathematics Days 2026, the proceedings of which are compiled in this volume.
Guillem Perarnau is an Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). After earning his PhD from the UPC in 2013, he held postdoctoral positions at McGill University and the University of Birmingham, where he also served as a Lecturer. His research lies at the intersection of discrete mathematics and theoretical computer science, with a primary focus on probabilistic combinatorics. He is particularly interested in the study of random structures (such as random graphs) and the phase transitions that govern their global properties.
In addition to his research, he holds several leadership roles within the scientific community. He serves as the Principal Investigator for multiple national grants and Scientific coordinator for European projects and is the main coordinator of the Red de Matemática Discreta y Algorítmica, a recently established network dedicated to fostering collaboration and strengthening bonds within the Spanish mathematical community.
He is the co-chair of the Scientific Committee for the Discrete Mathematics Days 2026, the proceedings of which are compiled in this volume.
