"Thank you... thank you," my mother said to the conductor, who replied, "You're welcome, very much." He made other comments that made my mother's face turn even redder as she adjusted her hair. I walked in a circle and stared at the newcomer, "Linda," who turned out to be small and chubby. I stood quietly, my eyes fixed on the asphalt.
