Much separated Camus from Seferis: places, social class, temperament, relationship with politics, ways of writing... And behold: at the beginning of a new millennium, the world shows us its tragic face again, awakening the nightmares of intolerance, refugees and war, at the same time that it is experiencing a multidimensional crisis, without precedent: an ecological, geopolitical, social, moral, cultural crisis, a crisis of humanity.
Thus, yesterday's dialogue between the two creators reveals itself not only to be timely, but prophetic. We need to remember it and renew it daily. Its vitality will determine whether our humanity can be saved. G.K.
