Jahrhundert aus geschlechtergeschichtlicher Sicht und fragt nach räumlichen und gesellschaftspolitischen Verortungen unterschiedlicher Arbeitsfelder. Dabei werden diverse Praxisformen wie Arbeit an der Schwelle von Haus- und Berufsarbeit oder im Kontext von Migration und Kolonialismus in den Blick genommen.

The evaluation of activities as paid professional work or as care work has been and continues to be relevant for gender relations and the social positioning of women and men. The current issue of “L’Homme” discusses the historically contingent practice of work from the 18th century to the present in a gender perspective and examines the spatial and socio-political locations of different fields of work. It examines various forms of practice, such as work at the threshold between domestic and professional work (e.g., in hotels or the work of midwives) or work related to migration (in colonial contexts or as au pairs).
