How we learn to write in elementary school shapes us for life. If we experienced high pressure while learning language and writing, had many failures, or found handwriting simply a complete ordeal, then handwriting will likely continue to bring little joy. Artist Jörg Schmitz invites readers to rediscover handwriting. The approach seems paradoxical: "If we want to rediscover our handwriting, we have to let go of what we've learned." Using his own artistic journey as a starting point, Schmitz demonstrates how concrete exercises can help us break free from the constraints of handwriting-and liberate our hands. A virtually endless array of possibilities for free, gestural writing awaits. The book transforms into a workshop through 14 exercises, each linked via QR code to short YouTube tutorials.
