Love, Creekwood A Simonverse Novella

I absolutely love "Simon vs. the homo sapiens agenda" and "Leah on the offbeat", so of course I also had to read this little novella. It follows Simon, Leah and their friends through their first year of college. We learn how Simon and Bram cope with their long-distance relationship and how well Leah and Abby really fit together. The whole story consists only of emails and short messages the characters send to each other. this fits well with the whole Simon-verse and I really enjoyed reading things from "their perspective". But I've got to admit that I would have preferred some "normal story-telling" in between. If only to fill in the blanks between the mails. Nevertheless it's a really cute and funny story and for fans of Simon and the others an absolute must.

Actual rating 4.5 stars What can I say, I’m a sucker for email/texting stories. They are fun! This little book continues the story of Simon, Bram, Leah, and the whole gang. Sure, this isn’t the deepest story telling, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. A quick and joyful read!

Simon, Bram, Leah and Abby are now College students! But while Leah and Abby are going to the same University, and even share a dorm room together (a dream for every couple), Simon and Bram are separated (only by miles; no One can separate the Dreamcouple!!!). This book is a collection of their E-Mails, where we can find out how they (especially Simon) are coping with their new life-chapter. I really enjoyed this part of the Simon Universe. But truthfully, I wished for a little bit more… a little bit more…. I don’t know: a little bit more story? Yeah, that sounds right. While the E-Mails were fun to read, they didn’t describe everything that was happening, and I want to know EVERYTHING! Still: For Fans of Simon and Co. it's a little marvel!

Ich hatte mich schon immer gefragt, wie es wohl wäre, einen Briefroman zu lesen, der in der heutigen Zeit spielt, und bei dieser speziellen Geschichte war ich nicht überzeugt, dass es wirklich funktionieren würde. Viele Situationen werden in den E-Mails erwähnt, aber wir "sehen" sie nicht, wodurch sie ein wenig an Wirkung verlieren. Ich beziehe mich hauptsächlich auf die Tatsache, dass die Mails keine Geschichte erzählen, sondern die Charaktere nur das schreiben, was ihnen gerade in den Sinn kommt oder was sie an einem bestimmten Tag denken, und anscheinend passiert alles andere hinter den Kulissen, wo sie sogar schon auf andere Weise miteinander gesprochen haben, z. B. per Telefon, per SMS oder persönlich; all das gab mir das Gefühl, dass die Mails alles sehr in den Hintergrund treten lassen und unnötig werden. Vielleicht sollte man das Briefformat doch lieber für eine Zeit aufheben, in der es noch kein Internet gab (oder ist dieser Roman wirklich das Problem?). Ein süßes Buch, um die Charaktere wieder zu treffen und zu sehen, wie sich ihr Leben in den neuen Phasen, die sie gewählt haben, entwickelt. Ich glaube nicht, dass es als Geschichte viel beiträgt, ich empfand es eher als Fanservice. Ich wage es nur, dieses Buch denjenigen zu empfehlen, die die ursprüngliche Geschichte wirklich (wirklich) genossen haben und wissen wollen, was aus den Protagonisten geworden ist. Es steuert in meinen Augen nicht wirklich was zu den Büchern bei. Es ist zwar süß, aber nur süß reicht hier auch nicht aus. Fazit: Insgesamt ist es eine schnelle und mäßig unterhaltsame Lektüre, nichts Besonderes, aber es nimmt auf den letzten Seiten an Fahrt auf und hinterlässt ein offenes Ende, das möglicherweise mein Lieblingsteil des Buches ist. 2 von 5 Sternen
