Godkiller

I absolutely adored everything about this book, it was phenomenal! The world was so vibrant and alive, teeming with history and ancient beings; the characters were so real and human, always flawed and always interesting; the prose was beautiful and evocative. I simply cannot fault it! Funerals are for the living. The dead don't mind what the world does to them. The plot takes us on a winding adventure rooted in a world overflowing with magic. It’s unputdownable and so much fun to read. I cannot wait for the next book and I will fight anyone I must to get my hands on it!

I picked this book up because it was said to be a great fantasy tale with "The Witcher" vibes. And what can I say I did not get disappointed. We follow the pov of four different and amazing characters with different goals but the same destination. Set in a beautiful but cruel world I can´t wait to read more about and interesting concepts of magic and godly powers this was a book I couldn´t read fast enough and when I was done I was left craving more.

I'm so happy to say that I finally found fantasy I enjoy and I'm excited for! Godkiller was very hard for me to put down and I enjoyed it so much! We follow Kissen the Godkiller, Elogast the retired knight now baker, Inara a noble girl and Skediceth, the God of white lies who is somehow tied to Inara. I enjoyed the different POV's and I loved to get to know the characters. I found them to be very dynamic and I very much enjoyed their relationships to each other. The journey those four main characters follow reminded me a lot of The Witcher which I'm not mad about. The world building and pacing was very well done in my opinion and I'm keen to find out more about the world, gods and people. Please don't let me wait too long for the next book!

Godkiller ist ein spannendes Fantasy Buch, welches für meinen Geschmack jedoch etwas zu langatmig ist. Toll an diesem Buch finde ich, dass es aus verschieden Perspektiven geschrieben ist, insgesamt vier Personen erzählen diese Geschichte. Dies ermöglicht der Leserschaft sich besser in die unterschiedlichen Personen sich hineinzuversetzen und ihr Handeln kann man so einfacher nachvollziehen. Dies finde ich deshalb so toll, weil die Charaktere sehr unterschiedliche Motive haben, aber gemeinsam unterwegs sind. Ich finde diese Buch ideal für Lesende die noch nie oder nur sehr selten Fantasy Bücher lesen, da es anders als viele Bücher aus diesem Bereich, “relativ” nahe an der realen Welt spielt. Es gibt zwar Götter die in Erscheinung treten aber zum Beispiel keine Gestaltwandler. Alles in allem hat mir diese Buch gut gefallen, auch wenn es an einigen Stellen für mich zu langfädig war. Das Buch hat auch fast 450 Seiten und ist damit relativ lang.

Ich habe das Buch als Blind Date bei Thalia gekauft und war erstmal hin und weg von Cover. Die ersten paar Seiten haben mich dann erstmal ganz schön erschüttert. Inhaltlich hatte ich manchmal Schwierigkeiten der Handlung so richtig zu folgen, vermutlich vor allem weil ich das Gefühl hatte ich weiß viel zu wenig über das Magiesystem und über das Konzept der Götter. Darüber hätte ich gerne mehr erfahren. Ich fand die Charaktere ansprechend, aber es viel mir manchmal schwer mit ihnen mitzufühlen. Der romantische subplot war meiner Meinung nach eher unpassend, vielleicht wäre es besser gewesen diesen in Buch zu erkunden und nur dezente Hinweise in Buch 1 zu verbauen. Ich denke ich werde den zweiten Teil auch irgendwann lesen, da mich das Ende schon etwas neugierig gemacht hat. Es ist ein gutes Buch, aber ich hatte das Gefühl dass irgendwas fehlt. Das hört sich jetzt alles negativer an als es eigentlich soll. Trotz meiner Kritik bin ich sehr schnell durch das Buch geflogen und denke die 4 Sterne hat es sich verdient.
