In My Dreams I Hold a Knife TikTok made me buy it! The breakout dark academia thriller everyone's talking about

Just finished 'In My Dreams I Hold a Knife' and wow, what a ride! This book totally sucked me into its dark academia vibe, which I absolutely love. The characters are so well-written - I found myself hating and loving them at the same time, especially Coop. He's just so... something else. This book is easily the best thing I've read in this genre since 'If We Were Villains.' A solid 5 stars from me! You think you got it figured out and then baaam - another twisted secret!

I read this Book in just three days a it was shocking till the very end. The depth and development of the characters was insanely good. The whole plot about Jessica’s inner conflict and need for success was executed amazingly. Even the scenery was described perfectly. I will definitely buy another book by Ashley Winstead, her writing is not too complicated yet so emotional and deep. I even cried at the last lines of the book. I loved the different POV’s and times the story was told .

This book really embodies „dark academia“ with its morally grey characters & privileged students. The characters felt real and faulty, harbouring secret desires, and fears.. I liked the way some of their feelings were put into words in such a unique way & the storyline was gripping until the very end. (Which left me staring at the wall) after all, not every secret is meant to be exposed…
