From humble beginnings busking on the streets of Surfers Paradise, three young lads are on the verge of superstardom. But there is one stipulation to the contract-brothers Phil and Bobby Sexton must sack their drummer and school friend, Ray Morris.
Twenty-five years later, INSEXT is still Australia's biggest export, but things aren't what they seem within the band. When Bobby-the lead singer-returns from his latest stint in rehab, he announces he is quitting the band and filing lawsuits against his brother, his management, and even his parents.
Tragically, Bobby is found dead in the pool of his Gold Coast mansion-stabbed in the back with the knife he gifted to Ray Morris when they were kids. Ray is quickly tried and convicted of the killing.
Two years later, Gold Coast detective Scotty Stephens receives a call from Ray, who is in jail pleading his innocence. Scotty looks into the case and soon realises that Ray's motive pales in comparison to those of the people closest to Bobby.
After infiltrating Phil Sexton's inner circle, Scotty is invited to a 'Beatles style' ashram in the Byron Bay hinterland, along with the family and everyone associated with the band, to witness the recording of INSEXT's new album.
Will being cut off from the outside world, with a potential killer, prove to be the perfect setting for Scotty to exercise his detective skills, or will it be the biggest mistake of his life?
