The Vanishing Cherry Blossom Bookshop

Incredibly beautiful and bittersweet novel. I was so touched by the stories and different lifes portrayed in this book. The characters felt so real and the eye for details made the world feel so rich. The ending was incredibly satisfying and sweet. Read in one sitting!

Vier unterschiedliche Menschen mit ebenso unterschiedlichen Geschichten. Dinge, die unklar sind, Fragen, die nicht mehr gestellt werden können... Und dann schlagen sie ein Buch auf und lesen einen bestimmten Teil - und sind auf einmal Gast in einem zauberhaften Buchladen, der von einer jungen Dame mit ihrer Katze geführt wird. Auch sie hat eben jenen Teil gelesen. Es öffnet die Tür zum Buchladen. Es ist philosophisch, etwas traurig, aber es hat auch eine große Portion Hoffnung und ganz viel Wärme in sich. Eine klare Empfehlung, dieses Buch ist wirklich schön!

The mysterious bookshop is a place that ties the stories of multiple people together, excisting somewhere out of time. It can only be entered under very special conditions. And most may never meet those conditions. I struggled a bit with the translation at the beginning of the book, almost as if the translator themselves had to "warm up" to the story, although that could be intentional for all I know. At first the parts taking place in the bookshop really took me out of the story, they didn´t feel quite right. However after finishing the book I can say that the bookshop does a good job of connecting the whole story and provided a satisfiying ending. - That being said, I never and I mean NEVER want to hear a describtion of that damned cherry tree again, I really can´t. Once would have been enough. ~ ཐིཋྀ
