Survive the Night A Novel

I have never ever before finished a book in less than 24 hours. Until Survive The Night. Wow, what can I say. I loved every bit of this book. I loved the setting, the protagonist Charlie, the story, I loved all of it. It was tragic, yet so beautiful in a way I cannot describe. I even cried at some points throughout the book. The ending was top tier!!! I do not want to give any further information as that would destroy the joy and excitement and terror of reading "Survive The Night". Please read it. Thank you, Riley Sager, for coming up with this story and writing this incredible book! I am for sure going to read more of Sager's work.

This was the first book I've read from Riley Sager. From the beginning, I loved the setting. Back in the nineties, where people could not use mobile phones, listened to Nirvana and could not google the person next to them. On the other hand, nowadays, we've become pretty much transparent to the rest of the world. Together with a potential killer that could have killed your best friend would be the worst situation ever. It sounds like a horror movie and if this situation is not bad enough, Charlie suffers from sudden movie -like sequences when her consciousness says goodbye. What is real, what is only in Charlie's mind? The reader can't say it clearly and neither can Charlie. I liked the way how Sager wrote this story, I felt well-entertained. When you've read more than half of the book, there are some exciting plot twists coming and the whole story moves on very fast. Also, I was happy that the male author has chosen a female heroine who is tough and not waiting for the knight in white armor to save her. From a feminist point of view, I was also happy. I would recommend it to readers who love fast-paced thrillers with psychological horror. Indeed this could be one of my book highlights for 2021.

Es ist nicht mein liebstes Riley Sager Buch, aber ich liebe die Twists in den Twists. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass die Geschichte diese Richtung einschlagen würde. Alles in Allem ein gutes Buch, aber manches war mir zu vorhersehbar. Trotzdem empfehle ich es an Riley Sager Liebhaber, aber an Middle of the Night, Only One Left kommt es nicht heran.

This was the first book I've read from Riley Sager and she really impressed me with the way she wrote this book. The plot was good and it had me shocked. The setting, where the book played was really good, but what I didn't really like is, that almost the whole story played in the car. After a while it got kinda boring. In the end I really enjoyed the book but it's not a must read.

It was good, I often really enjoyed the book and there was some kind of plot that really shocked me.But for me it was obviously who the campus-Killer was, so it kinda ruined the fun. I also expected more from the book, 90% of it plays inside the car which was often boring to me.It was nice but as I said, it could've been better.
