Swami Vivekananda an Indian monk, a philosopher, author, religious teacher and one of the pioneers of socio-religious enlightenment was born on January 12, 1863. During the course of a short life of 39 years (1863-1902), his achievements were immense. He dedicated his life to the higher call of promoting peace, serving the humanity and spreading the philosophy of Hinduism. Credited for introducing the practices of Yoga and Vedanta to the west, he was a spiritual and intellectual guide to many seekers.This biography of his focuses on his early life, initial enlightenment, notable achievements and the years which he devoted to public activities.
