Every topic in philosophy is called a "problem." There are, for example: the problem of the soul, the problem of man, the problem of nature, the problem of knowledge... and also the problem of God. The primary motivation for this study by James Daniel Collins, the late famous philosophy professor at Saint Louis University, stemmed from his observation of the close union between the modern history of the "God" problem and contemporary reflection on it.
