Ivan Kireevskii's third volume of his Les Philosophique series takes on a subject matter that is perplexing and bewildering to our psyche. He embarks on the deepest of scientific thought, quantum physics and distills the subject matter into words that register a movement in reality and imbues it with human mystery. His words enter through our ears, appear before our eyes, then disappear in contemplation. Every reading of these poems tends to call forth silence. Between the cry and silence, between the meaning and the absence of meaning, the known and the undiscovered, his poems arise. As quantum theory has questioned the core fabric of reality, so with these poems we must hear it, see it, contemplate it - convert it into an echo, a shadow, nothingness... something that only can be done through poetry... of which Kireevskii is a modern master. Through these poems, he will make you the observer and the observed. Through his body and his psyche, his entire being, are the "field" in which all sorts of transformations take place. His poems change meaning as the position of their elements change: words, phrases, and blanks. In constant rotation, in perpetual quest of life's ultimate meaning without ever reaching it, his poems are a transformation mechanism, like cells and atoms. These latter are transformers of energy and life. Through symbolic representations, Kireevskii's poems are apparatuses for producing metaphors. In the end, you may not understand quantum theory as a scientist, but you will feel the meaning of this complex modern theory deep within your soul.
