Even Though I Knew the End

3.75* Thank you to Netgalley and RB media for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is a nice story. Nice in the way that I haven't read much in a while and this was a good re-entry into reading- particularly as it is quite short. Nice in the way that I liked seeing a caring sapphic relationship that felt genuine in this book. Nice in the way that the ideas discussed here I haven't seen in a while and enjoyed the twist C.L. Polk put on them. But also "nice" in the way that it didn't blow me away. It was the same with Witchmark (my first Polk), but that story at least had the advantage of giving itself more time to grow on me. Their books so far were perfectly enjoyable and a good time, and there is technically nothing wrong with their stories. But they fail to inspire any deep emotional reactions from me (and I'm usually not that hard to make cry). This combitation of both too little time to get a feeling for the story and within that time not true emotional impact led to a good but not great experience I had with this book.
