Awesome prelude - Suspense, ancient secrets and a real page-turner
First of all, I have to say: Whoooooaw!!! It MUST go on!!!!!! The prologue already had me totally gripped and the following chapters also managed to completely sweep me away. From chapter 1 onwards, the story is a bit quieter, but the further the story progressed, the more captivating the plot became and it really picked up speed. Together with Eva, we uncovered more and more secrets and I couldn't help but be completely enthralled. I really can't and don't want to give anything away about the content so as not to spoil anything, but I can only highly recommend this book to you. It was and is a real page-turner. The story is told from two perspectives. Eva's and Max's, whereby the chapters told from Eva's point of view predominate. And that's a good thing, because I was able to discover a whole new world with her. As I said, I'm being deliberately vague here. I'll just say this much: There are plenty of ominous, dangerous men in black robes, occult vibes and bittersweet romantic moments. I LOVED Eva. She was very ambitious, imaginative and inquisitive. At first she found it very difficult to let others get close to her. I really liked the development she went through in the course of the story. I especially loved her quick-wittedness, her daring and her badass moments. Above all, the fact that she never backed down, fought her way through, always had the right phrase on her lips and was unyielding. Max has built an even bigger wall around himself than Eva. The happenings of the past have left a real mark on him. He had his very own baggage to carry. The character traits that still lay dormant in him only became apparent over time and completely captured my heart. I just loved the chemistry that built up between the two of them and how they slowly opened up to each other. I'm very excited to see what happens next. The story isn't finished with this volume and I really, really, really hope that Luke will continue writing soon. He has given the book a rather open and extremely intriguing ending. I especially loved the warm supporting characters like Delilah and Dylan, who became real friends to Eva, as well as Gran and Gramps. I would also like to point out that it became very poetic and wonderfully romantic at some points, which I really liked. Luke's fluent and catchy writing style rounded it off even more. For a long time, I was very confused because I didn't have enough information to fathom the secrets and backgrounds. I first had to discover the right pieces of the puzzle and put them in the right order. This also meant that at some point I could hardly put the book down. I wanted to UNDERSTAND. Where Eva had got herself into and what it was all about. I had to grin, I was overwhelmed, angry, relieved, suspicious, deeply touched, horrified, my heart was breaking, I was gasping for breath and I was in raptures and also suffered with her. Sometimes I just wanted to hug Eva tightly. I also had to shed a tear or two. At some point, my head was spinning from all the impressions. Everything was described so vividly that I felt as if all these impressions were crashing down on ME. Towards the end, the tension increased more and more and culminated in a grandiose finale. It also became sad. But Eva also had her absolute coolest moment, which almost made me squeal with delight. I was left with a bittersweet ending and the exciting prospect of the sequel hopefully coming soon. A real highlight of the year! Conclusion: In Scientia is the awesome prelude to something really big, where nothing is as it seems and where you don't know who to trust. There are forbidden love vibes with a touch of fate. Suspense, ancient secrets, lots of twists and turns included. Just pure thrills and a real page-turner. I can hardly wait for the sequel!
