I should've picked this up so much earlier. „The Thirteenth Child" is a haunting, dark and beautiful story about life and death. Hazel is an amazing character, from when she was young to when she was near her own death. Her story was heartbreaking and full of love at the same time. We get to see her grow up, follow her through her journey as a well-known healer, and the decisions she has to make in the hardest part in her life. Leopold quickly became one of my most loved characters, and the relationship between him and Hazel was just as tragic and it was wonderful. I've never annotated a book so much before, and I had so much fun doing it, because now I can go back to the scenes I found most beautiful. 5 stars aren't enough to rate this book- it's one if the best books I have ever read so far.
