Complex and thrilling!

Bewertung am 16.03.2024

Bewertungsnummer: 2155597

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

This is a story about what happens when you lose everything that kept you together and your whole life seems to fall apart. On the surface, Mickie seems to have everything: her dream job at a big lifestyle magazine, the perfect and steady relationship with her girlfriend and a cozy apartment in NYC. But when she looses her job, the facade she built up for herself crumbles, falls apart and takes everything with it - including her self-esteem and sense for right and wrong. I really really enjoyed this story and the way it was told - even though you often have to shake your head at Mickie's decisions and thoughts. But that's what makes this book so complex and remarkable: you have deep empathy for Mickie and her circumstances, want her to succeed and get back on her feet, yet you may not always agree on her ways and find it frustrating to watch her make mistakes and hurt the people she loves. This book is perfect for fans of Sally Rooney and Dolly Alderton. Definitely recommend!
