    Cooper and Penny - a swoon-worthy couple

This hockey romance had it all: humor, pinning, romance, spice and a book boyfriend to die for. It was a cozy, refreshing and interesting read without unnecessary drama, which will give you plenty to laugh and feel about. Cooper's constant support for Penny and his belief in her and her dreams were like a warm hug for the readers. The novel explores the hardships of being a son without his father's confirmation, moving on from past trauma through therapy and hard work, and the denied vulnerability that men suffer from.  Readers get to see a father-son relationship that develops from a catastrophe to an actual relationship due to communication between father and son. Penny suffered from a past trauma, and the novel also captured her healing and moving on from said trauma.  Empowerment and sexual positivity are practiced throughout the whole book, which makes it an even better book. The chemistry between Penny and Cooper was to die for. They understood and supported each other. Both characters were mature and communicated constantly. Their love was built on a foundation of trust, similar interests and a sense of humor. Readers also get plenty of good smut, which will have you needing a cold drink sooner or later. I loved the book and would recommend it to everyone who loves a good hockey romance about a swoon-worthy couple who bound over their love for books.  If you liked Icebreaker, you will love Breakaway.

New Adult + / Forbidden Love / Eishockey

Cooper has always been in the shadow of his brother James, even though he chose ice hockey. In addition, he is currently not successful with the women. That's where Penny comes in handy, offering him the perfect solution. Because he wants to be captain, for that he has to be balanced. But Penny is the coach's daughter. After nasty experiences with her first boyfriend, Penny has stayed away from boys, but somehow she is attracted to Cooper and he is the best candidate to work through her list... all without feelings, right? We follow both of them in turn. Penny was broken, but is almost healed, but now she doesn't know what to do with her life. Cooper always wanted only his father's approval and the certainty of being enough. There are a few parallels to other college ice hockey books, the starting plot is strongly reminiscent of "The Deal", but the author takes a different path. Both protas have problems with their father. The spicy scenes are well written and make Cooper a real hero, because he is even more considerate. And the list is very exciting... The development is plausible and the characters find healing. I really like that the third act drama comes from the outside. Nice book, but little college.
