A Conjuring of Light

Der Abschluss der Reihe war für mich sehr durchwachsen. Er hat definitiv stark angefangen und vor allem kommt hier Holland, der Antagonist, extrem zur Geltung. Kaell, der mich eigentlich in Teil 1 sehr überzeugt hat, ist hier deutlich blasser. Gerade im Mittelteil gibt es viele Längen und ich konnte leider nicht so ganz mitfühlen / hoffen, wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe. Es gibt noch einen neuen Teil, der danach spielt, aber diesen möchte ich vorerst nicht lesen.

It's here. It's finally (and sadly) here. The awesome and epic conclusion to the Shades-of-Magic trilogy. I don't wanna let go of this series, this world, these characters... I seriously love Victoria Schwab, she is an amazing woman and writer for creating all those books of hers. The third book starts off very intensely. Like, holy hell guys, my heart was beating so fast. The pace slowed down then but picked up again around the middle and things got even more awesome. Furthermore, Schwab's writing was fantastic as always. I was so happy to see Lila, Kell, Rhy and Alucard again, and even Holland grew on me. He is indeed a precious cinnamon roll and does not deserve all the suffering he had to endure! The romance in this book was not overpowering, God bless, and we certainly got some very steamy scenes, God bless! To be honest, I ship everyone with everyone, there's chemistry everywhere! I approve! But, of course, we also had some action scenes and, thanks to Lila, they were sassy as hell. The plot was woven tightly, and some plot points just ripped my heart out. Schwab's a queen and a monster at the same time, I love her so much. It's so sad to leave this world, but Schwab's hinted on Twitter that this book concludes the Shades-of-Magic arc, so there might possibly be a spin-off, so to speak. I'm totally down for that. Luckily, I don't have to suffer from Victoria Schwab's amazingness for too long as her next book, Our Dark Duet, comes out in June.

Nach dem ersten Band fällt es einem einfach, sich in der Buchreihe zu verlieren. Ich empfehle es sehr gerne weiter!

When I started the series I fell in love with it after only a few pages. The world had a lot of potential and I really liked the characters that Schwab introduced. Her way of writing is easy to follow and I was really invested until maybe half of book 3. It was then that 'the spell broke'. To me, the 3rd book has too many lose ends, too many plot holes and decisions made by characters which just DON'T MAKE SENSE or stand in complete contrast to their personality. It just lacked explanations to me, too many things happened that had no basis and were simply unnecessary. I really hope that others can enjoy this book more than me. To me, the last book simply couldn't keep up with book 1 and 2. The trilogy deserved more! (Especially more sense) Anyway, have fun reading!
