"The Ocean Wireless Boys and the Naval Code" by John Henry Goldfrap is a thrilling tale of adventure, mystery, and espionage set against the backdrop of the Thousand Islands. The story follows Jack Ready and his friends, Billy Raynor and Noddy Nipper, as they enjoy a well-deserved vacation after their previous adventures. However, their peaceful holiday is disrupted when they encounter the wealthy and unscrupulous Hiram Judson and his son Donald, who deliberately damage the boys' yacht, the Curlew. The incident sets off a chain of events that leads the boys to uncover a plot involving the theft of a new naval wireless code. Captain Simms, a former commander of Jack's, is secretly working on revising the naval code to prevent foreign powers from deciphering it. The boys learn of a conspiracy led by Judson and his associate, Jarrow, to steal the code and secure a lucrative steel contract with a foreign government. As the boys navigate through a series of dangerous encounters, including a humorous interlude with a bear and monkeys, they must use their wits and courage to thwart the villains' plans. The narrative is filled with suspense and action, as the boys race against time to protect the naval code and bring the wrongdoers to justice. The story highlights themes of friendship, bravery, and the importance of standing up for what is right, making it an engaging read for young audiences.
