    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

    Beautiful and poetic!

Peak character driven romance. There isnt that much plot but that is overshadowed by the beautifully written relationship between Regan and Aldo. The characters themselves are very eccentric and unique, which makes them grow on you even more. Their perspectives on live are really interesting and the way they communicate with one another really captured me. All in all a really special romance novel with very real issues and surpirisingly poetic aspects.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Regan and Aldo

I’ve already read The Atlas Six and The Atlas Paradox by Olivie Blake and when I saw that she has also written a romance, I was super curious and just had to get it. Alone With You in the Ether is such a unique romance and unlike any I’ve ever read.   The writing style is very poetic and scientific at the same time, and I really liked that. The book also has different parts and especially the conversation one was my absolute favorite. The bee metaphor was also phenomenal.   The characters meet unexpectedly one day, but it leaves an everlasting expression on each other, and the book shows what happens afterwards. Regan loves art and has studied it and she works in a museum. She is also bipolar and undergoing court-ordered psychotherapy. I was truly fascinated by her character and would totally understand Aldo. He is a theoretical mathematician who is doing his PhD and his perspective was intriguing to follow because it’s so different from mine. He is studying time travel and it’s a copying mechanism for his destructive thoughts. Both characters are so unique and eccentric, and a mystery and you just want to learn everything about them, and I was immediately invested in their story.   The book is a perfect example of a character driven story and who love occurs unexpectedly and they are soulmates together who work so well. Reading Alone With You in the Ether is such an experience and I highly recommend checking it out. 4,5 stars.

This book and "Normal People" are siblings

Well, if it isn't another book that came highly recommended and failed me to the core. I guess this book falls into the same category as "Normal People". We follow our two main characters Aldo and Regan (aka Charlotte...she dislikes the name though...Couse she is quirky like that...no really, she is bipolar.). Frankly I found this book lacked depth. We get these two characters who are supposedly so complex....but I didn't actually think they were at all. I didn't mind Aldo, he was alright. A math genius who is for the most part quite boring really. I don't know what else there is to Aldo, other than math. Regan on the other hand....you can call her flawed. I'd just call her annoying, in her defence she does struggle with mental health though -so I guess....you know she gets a pass. However I don't know how the two fell in love. Apparently love and sex are basically the same. Silly me. I shoulda known. I was already taught this in "Ugly Love" and "Normal People". If you agree, be my guest and read to your hearts content. There are a couple of good quotes in the book though. Which I liked, other than that....I think I'm giving up on character driven books.
